Hello,

i recently updated from Version 1.2 to 1.4 and noticed a change of the UI.
Sorry for asking such a stupid question, but how i can now see which Software is optional in the Catalogs? I wasn't able to locate a field where this is shown.

best regards.

Hello,

I'm not sure I understand your question correctly. Do you still have the older version installed? If so, could you post a screenshot of what's missing?

Hello,

sorry, i'll try to explain it better.

In Version 1.1 (which i was using since yesterday) the UI looks like this:

As you can see the packages we're added with the "+" Symbol on the buttom left. On the top was the option to select between "Installs" "Optional Installs" "Uninstalls" etc.

If i wanted to add "BetterTouchTool" As Optional install i added it to the "Optional Installs" in my Catalogue.

The new UI Looks like this:

In this Version you can add Software to the catalogue by just tick the Checkbox.

My Question now is: How can i set the software to be an "Optional Install" like in the 1.1 Version?

thanks in advance  and best regards.

Ah, ok. I think you are mixing the manifests and catalogs.

In the first screenshot, you have the manifest view open (the third button in the first toolbar item) and you have a manifest called "ManagedInstalls" selected.

In the second screenshot, you however have the catalogs view open (the second button in the first toolbar item). This is a view where you can assign packages to specific catalogs. The catalogs define which items are available to each manifest. You also have catalogs with same titles as your manifests and I think this adds to the confusion. I think the most common thing to do is to have your catalogs named like "testing", "production", "development", etc..

The Munki wiki has some good instructions for both catalogs and manifests and what's the best way to use them:

Here's a screenshot of the manifests view in the latest MunkiAdmin and how to access it:

And here's the manifests editor which you can open by double clicking any of the manifests in the manifests view:

The manifest editor has all the familiar sections (Managed installs, optional installs, managed updates) that were previously in the main window.

Okay, i understand. Thank you.
I was a little but confused. The Manifests and Catalogues already existed when i started working with Munkii in my Company. The Administrator who has setup Munki already left this company and i'm now maintaining this already existing setup.

Thanks for enlighten me.

best regards
