Hi,

MunkiAdmin appears to get itself in a mess sometimes, and fails to display certain manifests that really are there and display fine in the 'manifestutil' command line tool. I assume there is some local cache that is used to speed up the display of contents. Is there an easy way to clear this cache?

Cheers, Graham

The best way to "clear cache" is to just reload the repository from disk or relaunch MunkiAdmin. There are a lot of things MunkiAdmin keeps cached to speed things up but these are never written to disk.

Are you seeing these in a way that you can reproduce?

Hi,

Thanks for your response. No, I haven’t yet figured out what I’m doing to cause the manifests to disappear, but restarting MunkiAdmin or reloading the repository doesn’t solve it.  I’ll attempt to look in more detail at the file ownership and permissions and report back if I spot something.

Cheers, Graham

OK, so I reproduced the error, and it maybe something to do with the munki_repo being a samba connection:

A manifest named “client-123456” has an included manifest “_cg_ru_eduroam"
When I removed the included manifest using MunkiAdmin, the GUI gets stuck showing the wrong included manifest. As I flicked between manifests, the displayed Included Manifest didn’t change.
After pressing Save and Reload, the manifest “client-123456” disappeared, and the window semi-crashed (I couldn’t close it, maximise it, minimise it etc).
After force-quitting and reopening the program, the manifest “client-123456” is still missing.
After closing again, unmounting the smb connection to the Munki repo, remounting, and reopening the program, all is well again.

So, looks like a Samba connection error, possibly nothing to do with MunkiAdmin (though I was still able to manipulate the connected file system via command line).

Anyway, just thought I would report back!

Cheers, Graham
