Manifest "username" in GUI

When creating a new manifest, there is a field for "Username." What is that field recommended for? Is it merely a tag to help identify manifests? In my case i'm creating machine-specific manifests by serial number, so it would be useful for me to put the end users username there.

I guess my actual question is: What does the Manifest Username field affect in Munki's operation?

Yes, it is for admin convenience only and has no effect on actual Munki functionality. What ever you write to that field (and to those other manifest metadata fields) is written to the manifest file and is searchable and sortable in MunkiAdmin.
