I've been using Munki for quite awhile, had just left it at munki 5 because it worked out great and most of my machines are running Catalina.

Now, however, i've added a few that run apple silicon, so i it looks like I finally need to update.  I thought there were references on upgrading from 5 to 6, but I can't find them anymore.  Perhaps because that was like 4 years ago and I'm like the last person left anywhere using 5?

Anyway, is there an upgrade guide available for migrating from 5 to 6?

There’s no real “guide” because it’s trivial: just install the Munki 6 tools on your clients. Munki can even upgrade itself: just add the Munki tools package to Munki as you would any other software you wish to manage. In fact, upgrading to Munki 6.6 and later is easier than upgrading to earlier versions of Munki.

I've had really good experiences using Munki to upgrade Munki, but if you're at all nervous about it, make sure to leverage catalogs. You can have your testing catalog upgrade first, and then add in production later.

_Always_ make use of Munki catalogs to test things with a smaller group before going “wide”.
