I am just getting in a batch of M1 chipped Macs for deployment. I’ve been trying to research but how do you guys have both the package for M1 and Intel if the company makes both within your repo? Chrome for example. Do you import both packages and use the supported architecture to limit who gets them or do you just go with the intel package? How do you guys handle that transition for an environment who has both types of chips now?

Sorry if I can’t simply find the help page I am looking for.

Thanks guys!

JC

Yes. In the absence of a "universal" product, this is the best approach. In the specific case of Chrome, there is a universal product.

or do you just go with the intel package?

You could do this as well. Not as ideal, but it would generally _work_, as long as Rosetta2 is installed.

How do you guys handle that transition for an environment who has both types of chips now?

There's rarely a help page for this sort of thing. You're asking "how have other people decided to handle foo?"
