14.2.3 requires at least 14.1.0 - what version of Office are you installing?

Microsoft's installer is telling you that whatever version of Office you have can't be updated by the updater you have.
You may be missing a prerequisite like the 14.1.0 update.

I also had this on one machine, I couldn't even install it using Microsoft's office updater. The only way I could get it on was by installing it with a terminal command.

I thought that too, but I'm running version 14.2.3

The terminal, I'll try that.  What command did you use please? pkgutil --something?

Funny, I get the same "installer: Cannot install on volume / because it is disabled." error when trying from terminal.  So I guess it has nothing to do with munki.  I'll take it out of the equation.

Thanks much for the help!

Alrighty, got it.

I had to fully, completely remove Office, then run munki and let it install Office fresh and the updates went through fine.

To remove Office 2011 I ran these:

rm -rf /Applications/Microsoft\ Office\ 2011
rm -rf /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.microsoft.office.*
rm -rf /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.microsoft.office.licensing.helper
rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office*
rm -rf /Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft
rm -rf /Library/Receipts/Office2011*
rm -rf /var/db/receipts/com.microsoft.office*
