I was looking for a way or if it's even possible to disable Munki for one local user on a shared user machine. I'm working in a K-12 environment and am charged with deploying state testing software, one requirement is that the secure browser that is used cannot have any updates running in the background otherwise the secure browser stops the test and kicks the students out. I was looking at disabling notifications for 24 hours during testing but thought that if I could disable it entirely for one user that it would solve so many more problems, besides enabling parental controls which I hate, is there an option to disable munki for one specific user on the local machine?

Hey Mr. Muller,
I can't speak to doing this myself, but folks often use preflight checks to know they aren't running during a pre-determined 'no-flight zone'. Some references: http://grahamgilbert.com/blog/2015/07/07/munki-dnd/
There's also the pref of ONLY running at the login window.

You could set SuppressUserNotifications to "true" on that one machine's Managed Installs preferences.

Another thing to consider is, if this is a desktop machine, possibly running Munki only once a day. I set up our desktops to do this—update only at 6am before any students are on campus, and then not to run again until the next day.

This post was a helpful explanation of how to do so:

That way I know the machines are never more than a day behind, but no user is ever disturbed by updates.

I appreciate all of the support, sorry for the lack of timely reply as I’ve been swamped with a million other things. I’ll look at all available solutions over the next week or so and figure out what works best for me! Thanks everyone!
