Having an issue with Office 14.2.3 during client install

I have been able to successfully import the Office 14.2.3 update to our repository. I made sure that the blocking applications were defined in the pkgsinfo and that the required updates and update_for keys were set. The issue that I am running into is that the client machines that I have will recognize the new version being available and install it; however Managed Software Update will not close after the message "The software was successfully installed."

We have MSU version 3.2.1357 running on our client machines.

You're way out of date. Update Munki, it solves the compatibility issues with Office 2011 updates.

I would update to the current Munki tools and try this again.

Recent Office updates have some "interesting" postinstall scripting that causes the installer to hang indefinitely when run the way Munki did before a change introduced in early April.

Munki tools 0.8.3.1489.0 and later contain a fix for this issue.

I recommend running munki tools 0.8.3.1679.0. Managed Software Update.app 3.2.1357 corresponds to a very old version of the munki tools; certainly one predating this fix for Office updates.

/usr/local/munki/managedsoftwareupdate -V

will give you the version of the core Munki tools.
