MacOS requires every app to be closed before update

Hey folks,

Every time we have multiple apps waiting to update it requires every app to be quit/closed before it can update. this becomes tedious if for example we're actively using 1 of the apps, we're still required to quit (especially when there's a deadline to updating an app). Is this something that's being looked into so we can do individual updates for apps that are not closed? If not i can try my hand at contributing to the repo to solve this problem.
