Hi

We have a number of users that do not install any new software updates. Is there anyway to configure Munki client to immediately start installing the updates?

Thanks

Push this out to the selected systems.

/whereveryouputit/managedsoftwareupdate --checkonly --auto

Or am I missing something?

Hi

Mike Solin is right on track. It would be nice to set a date to immediately install if the user has not taken any action.

"It would be nice..."? Isn't what Mike posted (force install after ___ date) "set[ting] a date to immediately install if the user has not taken any action"?

Or perhaps I'm missing something.

If you set your packages to unattended_install they will install (so long as the application is not running) silently on the next munki run.

Unattended_install will install as long as there are no BLOCKING applications running -- sometimes this will be just the app itself, other times it can be a suite.

The date/time to immediately install isn't quite correct: managed software update will give a user warnings that it has to be installed by X date and time and it will get progressively more annoying as the time approaches (I _am_ a bad user and I ignore my own updates).  IF you use munki as your initial software load, or add a rogue/new mac user to your munki server and there's a pkginfo file with a force install by date in the past, it will give a countdown period (an hour?)

This page covers both the intricacies of unattended installs and force install AFTER date (scroll down a bit, they're right next to each other)

Yeah, it took me a while to realize it, but if you hover your mouse next to any headers on a GitHub readme, a link will appear, so you can get the anchor.
