Add some V’s to increase level of verbosity, e.g:

Managedsoftwareupdate -vv —check only

Hi,

I'm new to munki and am hitting a road  block during testing. I set up the software on my Mac running High Sierra following the instructions found here: https://github.com/munki/munki/wiki/Demonstration-Setup. When attempting to run the munki client from the CLI I get the following message:

"Managed Software Update Tool
Copyright 2010-2018 The Munki Project

Starting...
Checking for available updates...
ERROR: Could not retrieve managed install primary manifest.
Finishing...
Done."

When I check the logs, the error message says this:

"-0400 ERROR: Could not retrieve managed install primary manifest."

I don't have any more info and double checked the file permissions. Everything looks fine. Group and Others have read access to the files.

I'm not sure what I'm missing.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Thanks.

Same discussion in munki-discuss, which is a better place for it.

Looks like the webserver is not running on that machine. (localhost means "the current machine")

Agreed. I already posted it there too. I realized after the fact that I had posted this in the wrong group.

Dang it. Let's move this to one place: munki-discuss.
