I made some packages with Munkiimport for VurtualBox and MAMP.
Installation went fine, but when i try to remove these with Managed Software Center there is an error.
Is there a way to remove for example the director the application is installed in?

regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

To directly answer your question, you CAN use an uninstall_script as the uninstall method. With an uninstall script, there are very few things you can't do.

Maybe a little more helpfully: have you heard of AutoPkg? It crowd sources packaging for deployment, via neat chains of scripts called 'recipes.' Most of these recipes can target a munki repository, and they seldom need any tweaking to "just work." Check it out, you won't regret it!

And by that I assume you mean:

% autopkg search virtualbox

Name Repo Path
---- ---- ----
VirtualBox.munki.recipe jessepeterson-recipes Oracle/VirtualBox.munki.recipe
VirtualBoxExtPack.munki.recipe jessepeterson-recipes Oracle/VirtualBoxExtPack.munki.recipe
VirtualBox.download.recipe sheagcraig-recipes VirtualBox/VirtualBox.download.recipe
VirtualBox.pkg.recipe sheagcraig-recipes VirtualBox/VirtualBox.pkg.recipe

and that VirtualBox.munki.recipe results in a working pkg/pkginfo combo for Munki that can be installed and uninstalled without error?

Answering my own question:

I used autopkg and the VirtualBox.munki recipe to download and import the latest version of VirtualBox into my Munki repo.

I successfully used Munki to install VirtualBox and remove VirtualBox without error.

This is one of the big reasons to add autopkg to your toolbox: you can take advantage of the work and knowledge of other Mac admins in a repeatable way.

The error was caused by an included optional install file.
Error is gone now and uninstall works.

Thanks
Peter
