I wanted to ask before trying: is munkiimport capable of addressing large installers that span multi-part DMG files (like Apple Service Toolkit OS install packages)? I'm thinking maybe "yes" because when it mounts the DMG to read the package metadata it should assemble all the parts correctly, but maybe "no" because when it copies the DMG to the repo it'll only grand the first part. I guess I could manually mount the DMG, and then just import the package... well, I'll let the question stand and let the experts comment.

I don't know. I suspect the answer is no, but have no installer of that type to test.

I would suggest using this methodology http://wiki.afp548.com/index.php/Final_Cut_Studio_3_and_Munki :)

If it's specifically for Apple's AST (which I believe discussion isn't meant for outside of Apple / AASP) then once you mount the multipart DMG you end up with a disk image containing the installer files. Why not just grab the .pkg / .mpkg file from there? If you're talking about the application, just drag it to it's final location (e.g. /Applications/) then import it into munki from there.

Ah I re-read what you posted. Disregard my comments on the discussion outside of Apple thing.

For ASTs (Apple Service Toolkits), the same thing does apply though. Mount the .dmg files and you'll get a standard .pkg installer

Thanks, all. I can confirm that munkiimport will mount the multi-part DMG correctly and read the package metadata successfully, but will only copy the first DMG file into the repo as part of the import process. Manually mounting the DMG and importing the package file directly works fine, assuming its resulting size doesn't exceed the maximum limit of the file system on which the repo resides.
