FFXIVDawntrail has finally officially launched. Finding the best graphics settings for Dawntrail can significantly enhance your gaming experience. Whether you aim for stunning visuals or smooth performance, this guide, shared by Desperius on his YouTube channel, will help you optimize your settings to achieve the perfect balance, ensuring an immersive and enjoyable adventure in the FFXIV world. Likewise, needless to say, having some Dawntrail gold prepared can also make your adventure smoother and happier. Stock some by using MmoGah now! We have cheap gil for sale.

This was quelled by the official game manual website, which I found incredibly useful. My vision never caused any issues with combat as there is no aiming involved. Your various skills can combo into other skills to cause additional damage, which is communicated through the next skill in the chain being highlighted in your hotbar. If an enemy is executing a special attack that can be dodged, the ground is shaded in blue/orange which clearly communicates the oncoming assault. Each piece of the HUD can be resized and moved to make navigating menus, seeing your health bar, or your various skills much easier.

The accessibility menu is actually quite sparse, but there are options within the other sections of the settings that make the game more accessible. The options to resize/relocate UI, as well as increase the size of fonts are spread out within the settings. It would be great if there was an option to increase the size of everything within the accessibility menu. I was able to locate each of the options eventually, but that did require some research.

There are sound cues when you are first targeted by an enemy and when an ally has targeted you to cast a spell. Music changes when in and out of battle, and when entering FATES (public quests) there is a music cue that accompanies the on-screen notification. Macros, which are strings of actions done with one button press, can have sounds added to them. This is especially useful for when a tank wants to alert everyone of danger. There is also an option to enable vibration if you are using a controller.

Playing Final Fantasy 14 is committing to a whole other life, the digital existence of the Warrior of Light, and for many of us, our playtime spans years. During that time, you'll likely change console, upgrade your PC, or maybe want multiple devices to play the game on, so how do you ensure you have all your config settings wherever you're playing, including your HUD layout and hotbars?

Click the settings button to go in and choose whether you wish to download a backup (to apply your previous backup settings), upload a backup (to save your data to the server to download later), or restore settings. You can only upload backup data once every 24 hours.

On your new computer, install the game and go to the same pathway as above to reach the same folder. Copy and paste your saved files into this folder and choose to replace files to ensure your character data, such as hot bars and HUD layout, will be ready and waiting for you when you boot up the game.

The purpose of this guide is to walk you through understanding how to select friendly, enemy, and ground targets on a traditional mouse+keyboard setup in FFXIV. It will also introduce you to the many customizable options you can leverage to better suit your playstyle and allow you to target, select, and switch seamlessly based on your personal preference. This topic might be of particular interest to healers who frequently swap between enemies and allies, but is useful for tanks and DPS players as well.

Players often have to switch their current target in combat in FFXIV. This can be to select and attack an enemy or to select and assist an ally. Selecting and swapping targets can be one of the harder gameplay skills to master. However, becoming proficient will improve your performance and enjoyment of the game.

As an alternative, cycling through enemies can also be achieved by scrolling the mouse scroll wheel. System [ESC] -> Character Configuration -> Control Settings -> Mouse allows you to bind various combinations of mouse scroll wheel inputs to the same aforementioned cycle through enemies commands.

Ignore Depth will select the first target strictly closest to your character, as long as it can be seen by your camera view. But once an initial target has been selected, all subsequent executions will select targets based on a strictly left to right basis, starting from your initial target. It will only target enemies visible on your screen.

Clicking on individuals in the party and alliance list UI will select them as your target. This is a very common and the default way to select allies. Perfecting this method is considered an optimal option. While it can be hard to master, it can definitely be worth it in the long run.

You can see it in action in the clip below. The dotted circle around my party member and the light yellow highlight around their name in the party list UI indicates they have been soft targeted. After I use exactly one action on them (e.g., a heal), the target snaps back to my previous hard target, in this case the striking dummy, without the need for any additional inputs. There are two ways to set up soft targeting, which are discussed below.

The first way to set up soft targeting on a mouse+keyboard setup is to emulate a controller. D-pad Up and D-Pad down represent scrolling up and down the party list using soft targeting only, which you can of course bind to any keys you like.

The second way to soft target is to use the mouse wheel settings we have seen before, in System [ESC] -> Character Configuration -> Control Settings -> Mouse. This method could be faster, but harder to be precise with.

Here is an GIF example of mouseover macros in action. Notice that I only hover the mouse cursor over my party members to heal them by executing the mouse over macro, without actually clicking on them. And afterwards I can keep attacking my main target, without ever deselecting it.

In addition to the unique function of hovering the mouse cursor, there are also other, more traditional ways to specify the target of a oGCD skill within macros. Such functions include (target of target), (focus target) and (position on the party list). Below are some examples.

This macro will cast the tank role action Shirk on the second party member on your party list. You can use this for tank aggro swaps. By default the other tank should already be the second party member. You can customize the order by going to System [ESC] -> Character Configuration -> UI settings -> Party List. And then sort by going to Party(Dropdown menu) -> Sort Party List.

The default and the most optimal way to select the location of ground based AOE skills is to simply click on the desired location with the targeting reticle. A good tip is that you can pre-position your mouse cursor in anticipation, even before you use the skill and before the reticle appears.

If you have any questions about XIVLauncher, Dalamud, or Dalamud Plugins, please feel free to ask questions in our Discord server. We are a primarily English-speaking community and support in other languages may be limited.

These are the non-FFXIV domains you should expect to see network traffic from. All connections are made with HTTPS where possible. (Square-Enix is dumb and some of their services do not use HTTPS. We do not like this, but have no control over it.)

Like every patch maintenance, the lobby server will likely be taken offline as usual. Even assuming you get the patch downloaded and applied mid-maintenance, your authorization will almost assuredly be expired before things are back up.

FFXIV installs to a few different locations depending on whether you used the official installer or steam, when you installed it, and potentially if you installed the free trial or not. Here are some of the common paths.

People who bought FFXIV on Steam are required to link their Steam account to their Square Enix account in the official launcher. We have no way around this, and because of this, you are required to have Steam open if you have a Steam service account.

If you want the Steam overlay on a non-Steam service account, you need to add XIVLauncher as a non-Steam game through Steam. If you want Steam to count hours for FFXIV, you can right-click it in your library, choose Properties and set Launch Options to C:\Users\**YOUR USERNAME HERE**\AppData\Local\XIVLauncher\XIVLauncher.exe %command%.

NOTE: Most programs will not let you use the shorthand for %localappdata% and %appdata%. You will need to use their full/real path (usually some form of C:\Users\AppData followed by Local or Roaming.

This is an issue with Square Enix servers that has been affecting players in the US for a while now, being caused by the login servers being hosted directly by SE in Japan and not taking care of their routes to players.

To remedy it, you can either wait a while and try again then, or set your VPN to Japan until you are on the title screen. Then you should be able to play normally without a VPN. DNS changes have also been said to help.

You should also never let FFXIV run as admin as it can and will result in your game configuration data becoming write-protected by your own user. This can result in you being unable to save character config, hotbars, settings, and take screenshots, with no easy solution beyond trying to fix broken permissions or deleting all config and starting over. (SE does not handle file permissions very well!)

First, go to App & browser control and click on Smart App Control Settings -> Turn it off (this is off by default on machines upgraded to Windows 10/11 and is more of an overprotective feature). Afterward, please restart your computer and try again.
