Friends,

As many of you may be knowing, RTI Activst Shri Shailesh Gandhi became a Central Information Commissioner in September 2008 and moved over to Delhi. Having known him to be righteous and just, he has been particular about the orders he has to provide on the appeals referred to him. He has applied his skills of an erstwhile entrepreneur, zeal of an activist and passion to uphold law and provide justice and has attained significant productivity while doing so. He is here in Mumbai in March.

Please block the date and attend the meeting which has been supported and organised by AGNi, Bombay Chartered Accountants Society Foundation, Bombay Catholic Sabha,  Forum Of Free Enterprise, H/West Ward Citizens Trust, M.R.Pai Foundation, National Aliance of People's Movement, Public Concern for Governance Trust, Tarun Mitra Mandal-Mahadhikar, Mahiti Adhikar Manch and a few more organisations and individuals.

Please circulate this to your circle of friends and organisations. By sheer numbers of attendees, let us convey to the State Information Commissioner that there is an urgent need to increase productivity of Information Commissioners and ensure that the RTI Act shall not get relegated to a non-functional state due to accumulating pendencies.

Please spare that much time personally yourself and urge others to do the same.

For better governance, transparency is necessary and we all can do so by firstly keeping the Act in a healthy working State and using the act whenever we feel that matters are not moving as they should be.

Please read Bhaskar Prabhu's email given below.

PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS MESSAGE.

Dear Friends,

We are taking advantage of the presence of Shri Shailesh Gandhi in Mumbai in March and are arranging a programme "PENDENCY HATAO, RTI BACHAO" which is a sort of Performance Audit of Information Commission. While Shailesh Gandhi will share his experiences as a Central Information Commissioner and his methodology of tackling the issue of appeal pendency in commission, Dr. Suresh Joshi will give his plan and strategy for reducing pendency in Maharashtra.

This is an important Public Meeting in continuation of the drive we have started in August last year and we need sufficient numbers to show the SCIC that it is a burning and urgent issue that needs solutions immediately.

Please mark your calendar and keep yourself free on SUNDAY 8 MARCH morning from 10.30 a.m. onwards at St.Joseph High School Grounds, Parish Hall, David Barretto Road, Wadala (West) Mumbai 400 031

As we are also awaiting a dignatory's confirmation from the Judicial side, detailed programme and invitation will be sent shortly. In the mean-time spread the message around to all whom you are in contact with.
