I have been working with heavy metal/ferromagnet systems in MuMax3 and studying skyrmion dynamics in such setups. I would now like to extend this to a topological insulator (TI)/ferromagnet system.

Could you please suggest how such a TI/FM system can be modeled in MuMax3, and how the effect of the topological insulator layer should be incorporated?

I would appreciate any guidance or relevant references.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Hi,

By default, mumax doesn't have anything built in to handle TI's. I think you'd have to do this in an adhoc way, depending on what feature of TI's specifically you're looking for. Things that can be represented as an effective field or torque may be possible, but there are features of TIs that wouldn't be amenable to this type of formulation, so it would depend on what exactly you're trying to model

Cheers,
Josh L.
