Hello Mumax Community,

I am interested in making regions on a surface have different exchange lengths. I know there is the ability to form different domains, but I was wondering if this exchange length must be uniform across the geometry.

Thank you

Hi,

In mumax, you do not set the exchange length (either the normal exchange length, nor the magnetocrystalline one) directly. However, you can vary the various material properties (Msat, exchange strength Aex, magnetocrystalline anistropy etc) using regions, which will lead to different exchange lengths. On the example page, look to " Regions: Space-dependent Parameters".  The mumax workshop session 1 may also be useful. You can have up to 256 regions with different material properties, and therefore exchange lengths.

Cheers,
Josh L.
