I Finally Have My Multiplaz 3500 Hooked Up To Power!
I have had to wait quite some time for my Electrician to get the 240 hooked up. Unfortunately my 120 outlets only had 15 amps and not the 20 amps minimum that Multiplaz requires. I was originally going to try hooking up to 120 but I was warned against it by the Multiplaz company, something about if it doesn't have the minimum 20 amps it will damage the unit. By this I assume the Multiplaz 3500 would be damaged. So I waited.. .and waited... and now finally I can try it out!
The Electrician used the twist lock plugs (250 volt 30 amp) used to connect to most emergency generators. I also had him make me up a 30 foot 250 volt extension cord with the same twist lock plugs. The idea is that the unit should be all set to use an emergency generator if the day comes that I manage to acquire one.
Have a great day! Robert Taylor

I took some time amidst the drywall finishing etc. in my garage to run a few beads across some heavy metal plate last night. It looked like I had good penetration, with reasonably straight lines. My travel was not very consistent but not bad for a first try.
One thing that is clear is that I will need to find a different welding helmet. Unfortunately my auto darkening helmet only goes as light as shade 9 and that is just too dark to see what I am doing. On the other hand attempting to use my shade 5 ox-acetylene goggles left me seeing spots.. so not dark enough for Mode 2.
