Hi, for what it's worth, if you can judge a weld by it's appearance that is as good as it's going to get.
One swallow does not make a Summer, and so even if you did a perfect test weld, the next one might be flawed etc.
It takes practice to get to perfection or acceptable standards, so with consistency in mind, practice on all kinds of metal thicknesses to see how the torch and it's settings handles the various work pieces.....a piece of 3mm steel is a lot different to a piece of 20mm thick steel.
I always had trouble with corner welds when doing stick welding and more often than not had to grind out and re-weld them just to pass my own inspection, but with the 'Plaz that is a thing of the past.
BTW, been using the 'Plaz for almost 3 years now.
