I am having issues installing on a Windows 7 machine.  We are replacing older XP machines. I can get MultiAd to install but I can only get it to run when a user is Administrator on the local machine. In XP, the user had to be part of the Power User group and then it would launch but that doesn't work with 7. When launching, I am getting a message "There was a problem initializing Creator. You may need to install a COM update, reinstall Creator or contact a sys admin".

I have tried given the users full control to the folder and the registry key. I have also tried installing in a folder outside of the Program Folder (x86) but still getting the same error. I am wondering if anyone else has run into the same thing and how it was resolved.

We are installing Creator 7.3. I have 8.5 but I don't want to mix versions within a single department.

Thanks!

You will have to turn on XP compatibility mode on to get that older version of Creator to run on Windows 7.

Follow these steps

1. Locate the Creator Professional.exe which is usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\MultiAd\Creator Professional 7.0.3
2. Right click on Creator Professional.exe and select properties.
3. Click on the Compatibility tab then check the checkbox "Run this program in compatibility mode for: " make sure Windows XP service pack 3 is selected in the dropdown.
4. Click the ok button.

Creator will now run on Win 7.

Please let  me know if you have any problems.

Thanks
Scott

I am having the same issue on win7 64-bit. It installed fine. Runs as admin user, but not as a regular user.

I have done as suggested and turned XP compatibility mode on.

Thanks,
