I have an iMac with Mac OS 10.11 on it, plenty of memory, etc, but cannot get Creator 8.5.4 or Creator 8.0.4 to stay open long enough to save a new document, either to the local hard drive or a server share point. Anyone out there running Creator successfully on El Capitan?

I noticed the other day that Creator crashes in 10.11. Looks like Apple finally removed more remnants of QuickDraw (which has been deprecated for years). Creator is still using small pieces of that. So it's kinda deadsville.

Sent from iCloud's ridiculous UI, so, sorry about the formatting

It does appear Apple has made more changes to the operating system that is causing Creator to not work properly. MultiAd has a programmer looking into seeing if it is possible to fix. If you would like to continue using Creator we recommend to not update to El Capitan. We have heard Microsoft is having similar issues with their product, hoping whatever solution they come up with along with Apple might help us.

I've downloaded the latest beta release of El Capitan. It appears that Creator is stable again and working. I have not been able to test it thoroughly, but been working in it for about 15 minutes and it has not crashed. Which anyone that has tried it before will know that this 15 minutes longer than on the first version of El Capitan. If anyone else has updated there system through the beta problem please share with us the experiences you are having. Thank you.

Hi Brian, sounds like some encouraging news, I've been waiting to upgrade to El Capitan because I didn't want to lose Creator.

As an additional question, It has been a long time since an update for Creator Pro and I was wanting to know if Creator Pro is still under development or has it reached end of life? Thanks

Yes good question. I have noticed a few broken features and was surprised 8.5.4 was ever released??

That is encouraging news. Have been looking at upgrading all the way from Mountain Lion to El Capitan but Creator is the only program that looks like it was having an issue with the newest release. Really want to upgrade since there have been numerous issues with programs that I think will be solved with an update.

Until the middle of this week, we were unsure of Creator's ability to work in El Capitan, but with Apple's latest beta, Creator does seem to be working.

A decision has been made to focus on a server-centric development schedule and as a result, future development of a stand-alone, desktop version of Creator Professional will not take place.

We understand that many of you are not at the stage where you are ready to upgrade your operating system. Creator does work through the Yosemite OS and continues to be viable in the PC environment.  If you do upgrade to El Capitan - we are cautious as it's still a beta we are working with, but we can't ensure compatibility with any future OS updates. We encourage you to continue to work with the product as long as it works for your environment.

Brian, that is sad and disheartening news about no more development of desktop Creator. I've been using it almost daily for over 15+ years, it's an absolutely fabulous app. I really wish you guys would reconsider and continue to do updates & development. Of course I'm only speaking for myself but I would gladly pay for an update to fix the latest quirks and compatibility issues.

Brian, please have your company re-think this decision of not going ahead with further Creator development. I been using Creator for over 20 years. I introduced to my company back in 1993 and we never looked back. We invested so much money into our production flow and Creator is the main focal point. We are willing to put money into further development of Creator. It would cost us tens of thousands of dollars to abandon Creator. We would rather put money into further creator development. Our company is growing rapidly and we need more versions of Creator but we hate to keep investing if you guys are not going to continue development or sell the programs to someone who would. Yes, there are other layout programs but there is nothing like Creator. Its a unique app with so much potential.

Ditto and agreed. Not liking the idea of InDesign future :(

I think that ship has sailed. Most of the core Creator desktop developers were dismissed several years ago.

I was with MultiAd for the last 18 years and started as a marketing coordinator for Creator 2 when that version launched. There have been many people loyal to Creator within the company and have fought to keep it up to date and still the product we loved. As of October of this year MultiAd was purchased by SGS International, headquartered in Louisville, Ky. Creator and its software was a part of that sale. Us in Ad-Builder(www.adbuilder.com) are now an independent company that have the products Creative Outlet, Recas and LocalPrices. I have forwarded this discussion onto MultiAd so they are aware of everybody's concerns. Again, we would like to thank all the loyal supporters over the years and people who have spent their time programming the application. Creator Professional is working today on Windows 10 and with this last Mac update El Capitan.
If you would like more information on the sale of Creator you can view the press release here...http://www.prweb.com/releases/2015/10/prweb13012771.htm.

i am currently experimenting with InDesign and despite being "the industry standard" it lacks all of the core functionality of MultiAd creator. I am trying to write scripts that will emulate some of those basic functions..and its not easy. InDesign is a very flexible program but bottom line it wasn't created for the purpose of designing ads.

Some one could make some serious money creating scripts or plug-ins for InDesign that would make designing ads easier...replicating the Creator features etc.

Steve Mills if you are listening I get 25% of the profits...lol :)

Different ideas have played kickball in my brain, but I just don't have the time. My current gig has me working on an app that sends AppleScripts to InDesign to build docs, and after spending the first 16 years of my professional career on one of the best scripted and most UI-centric apps around, I find something in InD to laugh/cuss about almost daily. Some of their ideas and design decisions are ridiculous.

Thanks Brian for being upfront with us. We have all appreciated your past service and honestly. I want to let everyone know I sent the following letter to the company that now has the rights to Creator. I sent it to three departments. Investor relations, Sales, and Technical Support to see if I get any sort of response. Everyone here should do the same so they realize how important this program is to thousands of users. Here's the letter…

Hello,

Congrats! Your company has acquired an unbelievable, easy to use, layout and design program known as Creator.

Our company has invested a great deal of time and money into incorporating Creator into our production flow at our manufacturing company. What we need to know is how can spend a lot more money to make sure Creator continues to perform at the expectations we have all come to love and admire. The program is an amazing and well-scripted piece of software, however, it does need updated (as does any software) to work in compliant with future operating systems.

What we need to know is your commitment in maintaining and supporting the program. Creator has a huge user base and is relied upon for all sorts of production needs. If your company is not going to take advantage of Creator, then I (and all of its loyal fan base) would suggest give the rights back to the original developers or sell the program to a company willing to take it to the next level.

Thanks for listening and have a happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Brian, you mentioned that Creator seemed to be working with the OS 10.11.2 beta. Now that the final release of 10.11.2 is out I wanted to know if you or anybody else has tried Creator to make sure it is working properly. I really want to upgrade to El Capitan but have been holding off until I know Creator works. Thanks

I'm using what I thought was gold master and it is running again for me. I'll drop an email to Creator Support and see how it is working for them.

When you say you can't find the download, what product are you referring to?

There was no update for Creator Pro. The update that was released from Apple for El Capitan seemed to fixed the issues Creator was having.

Testing by Creator Support seems good and I have been having no issues.
