we have run into issue with Creator running on High Sierra machines.

specifically the problem is after opening an existing file on the
network, making a change to said file and doing a "save as" with a new
name - ythe user will be unable to open the file again getting an error
saying that file was in use by the very machine that did the saving.

it appears to be network related and is not issue if you save to desktop
or if you are running an earlier version of the mac OS

any thoughts??

thank you in advance

This problem is a hidden file that creator write to keep two users from opening the same file. There is a utilities installed with creator to fix this problem. Its in the creator folder.

i believe the utility you are referring to is "repaired locked file"

the issue i am having does mimic a file being open or in use by another user, however, in my instance the error indicates that user who created and closed the file and then tries to re-open it is the user who currently has the file open.

using the utility does not fix the problem

i figured out the solution over the weekend and it involves High Sierra incompatibility with the SMB file share

the solution is to join the network with "CIFS" protocol instead of SMB

10.13 has also been causing weird problems with my backup disk. Backups fail (greaaaat) because the volume becomes in-use somehow, which prevents Retrospect from being able to open its own files. I can't even save a file or add a folder to the volume when it's like that, and only a reboot fixes it. It's unrelated to smb, but just thought I'd throw it out there, for what it's worth.

BTW, I also noticed that Creator doesn't save the opacity values in element styles. How the hell did I overlook that?!
