Hi Team,

Last week Mukta when Mukta visited NAB, we were told to wait for 2 weeks before we continue with our projects. Plz visit the link - http://www.thehindu.com/2006/04/21/stories/2006042123960400.htm

A shocking news indeed. I don't want to comment anything about the issue without speaking to NAB officials. But this may be contrived demonstration just to pressurize management of NAB.

Our interaction with Raakum School of Blind has given us more insight into this area. We will discuss more about this issue when we meet.

CSP and Folks:
Yes, indeed shocking news. I never expected event of this kind at NAB Complex due to my experience and relation with NAB.

My opinion about this is as follows:

It would be due to some severe miscommunication among trainees and management. As per my knowledge, NAB of course do put in efforts towards placement of trainees. But as all of us aware, providing job in priviate sector is slightly difficult job and it is matter of time. However, I surely feel, personally, some of the staff at NAB should change their way of speaking with blind people. I am sorry, I cannot mention names over here. Although those staff do put in efforts, they won't be good in communicating with person with disabilities. That's where management lacks.

As a visually impaired person, I somehow feel, even trainees should also go and explore for jobs on their own instead of fully depending on NGOs. But this needs counselling.

This is my personal view. Hope no one get hurt.
Regards,
Srinivasu

Very true Srinivasu. An issue can have multiple dimensions to it. So it is better to speak to NAB officials to understand more about the issue.

Placard in the photograph talks about sexual harrassment (this is for people who don't understand kannada). I am not convinced that NAB officials might stoop to such level. Our interactions with Saroja and Gordon have been very promising.

Homosexuality and other issues are widely prevalent in hostels and other residential schools (and this is by one's will and wish), but sexual harrassment by teachers and other management officials may be far fetched.

NAB has been doing a great job. May be someone wanted to tarnish its image...may be

But this issue will definitely help us to understand the issues with society better...

There are few interesting issues wrt scribes too (not sexual). I and Santosh will come up with a writeup related to this pretty soon.

It was quite shocking to read the news about this issue.
I don't think we can judge anything right now based on the information that we have got. Seems to be a conglomeration of speculations, misunderstandings or even truths. Anything can be possible.
I suggest that we be very cautious when we speak to NAB officials, not to hurt their ego or lead to any kind of uncomfortable situation.
Hope the cloudy situation will get cleared at the earliest.

Pradeep.

I agree with Pradeep we should allow them time to sort out issues. On the face of it,it seems more of a issue arising mainly out of non-placement of students after the training, which also underscores the importance of getting the placement i feel.
Lets wait for things to get clear and sorted out.

I too agree with all of you. Let's give time to NAB to come-out this tragedy.

As per my analysis by discussion with Saroja mam, Gordon and dayanand, I understand it all started with some internal issue. But now, trainees are behaving rather in stupid manner. (Sorry for my language). I am very sad to note that yesterday the Secretary and treasurer of NAB K was beaten up by the trainees which is totally unacceptable.

As per my personal view their demands (What I get to know) are also seem to be not correct. Below is details.
1. Last batch trainees of RBTC was to leave the campus soon after completion of their courseto enable next batch to stay and NAB would try for their placement (No one guarantee them of course). But here, about 10 students from last batch were not ready to leave campus even after several discussions and they were expecting NAB to find out jobs for them. Some time later (as per gordon's statement) few of the trainees were placed at ITC and very soon they left those jobs on their own accord. Which is very bad. Friends, as a part of VI community, I personally feel, we should depend on NGOs ae any one to a nominal stage to support us. Prior to seeking support, we should put in our own efforts and they NGOs are very much there to support us. Whatever job we get, it is our responsible to retain.

2. They need NAB to give a room in Guest house for life time to form an association. Though NAB was very much considerate to offer them conference room with man power to conduct their meetings as and when they want. But they are still demanding for a locked room. In my view, they don't have any right to demand an NGO and they should accept gracefully whatever they get.

I agree in any organization, there will be some mismanagement issues. But this is not the way for solution.

Today, NAB would be holding a press conference and they would also be meetingGovernor and Home secretary. We are all very sorry about whole situation which never happend in the history of 27 years of service.

As CSP stated, some one is initiated for some of their personal benifit. We don't really know truth at the movement. Let's hope for the best. I am writing this that none of you should lead to any misunderstanding towards NAB. You will agree with me that at present it will be difficult for NAB oficials to interact with any one. I spoke to Saroja mam and Gordon and they too requested me convey situation to you.

I will update you as and when I get. Personally I am very upset about this. Though I left NaB two years ago, still we interact as a family.

Let's hope for the best.
Thanks a ton!
Take care,
Srinivasu
