Hi friends,

I would like to kickstart this discussion. When are we planning to
have the next mukt.in ? Well I am interested very much this time
because I am on a 15 hours drive from Hyderabad that is Mysore. So if
we plan to have some event dates on weekends it will be nice for me to
hop in. Do let me know and also please discuss the progress made so
far regarding the next mukt.in

Thanks & Regards

Ya, hmm well. The planning goes to IIIT hyderabad.

I've recently got my hands full with the new job. Dont know how mbuf
manages to do things!
I should be getting back on track soon.

If we can start doing this from now, we could really have a mukt09 in
november.

Where do you want to any of the following could be a good starting point

Volunteers : need people for each activity
Sponsors : need to put up a website now and start talking to potential sponsors
Talks : spread the word folks will come forward
Demos,Workshops, anything else you guys can think of
Advertising : talk about it every where

by the by if its gonna be @ IIIT the management has to be taken in
confidence first , so that it does not clash with other activities in
the same time frame.

I am visiting them tomorrow to deploy Fedora Core 10, 11 repositories.
Let us finalize a date for the event, and then we can discuss on the

Hi,

I wish I was there to get those repo's copies on my external hard
drive. But never mind. I will make sure that I am seen in the next
mukt.in (this time).

Hi,

From an initial discussion today at IIIT, Hyderabad here are some points:

* It is important for few people from the Industry to talk to
professors regarding mukt.in. Can Satyakaam, Krish coordinate this? I
might be travelling next month, so will not be in Hyderabad for a
month or so.

* Most of the conferences have been of the type "talks, talks, talks".
We would like to do an unconference with -- talks, hands-on sessions,
BoFs etc.

* First year students don't have laptops, so for hands-on will need to
use the labs. As of now, lab computers are assigned to students for
the semester, so each one uses the distro of their choice.

* Saturdays are working, so, labs might be occupied. We need to talk
to the professors to give us a Saturday for the event. Sunday can also
be used for the event. We need to decide whether we want to do it for
a single day or two days?

* Mid-term exams are in September, October, November 2009. So, please
talk to the professors first, fix a date. Then, we can decide on which
labs, seminar halls can be used for the event. The campus is big, so
it is best to choose labs, seminar halls that are close-by?

* Logistics regarding accomodation to outside speakers need to be
discussed with IIIT, faculty. IIIT can take care of Infrastructure,
logistics for the event, and community volunteers can take care of
coordinating sessions, organizing seminars, BoFs etc.

Your inputs are appreciated!

Will do , i need a list things done in last two years i could not find
it on mukt.in .
after getting this info will be talking to Prof Sangal with a proposal.

same as above feed me with info

apart from that we also need to have tentative dates

all right so this takes care of the dates issue so who from IIIT is
going to get this info?

1) Dates
2) Infra availability

I should be able to pull off a saturday/sunday for this.

mukt.in has always been an unconference. :)

Hm, thats great now. Atleast, we don't have a decided distro forced on
us.

So we are swaying away from our 3 day thingy after two years. But yay!
days do not matter.
The stuff matters. One day is also good if we have super-hyper active
sessions going on.

Naw! I'd be really really stuck in December. :(

Would really love to see volunteers who know what is going on and do
not take it as a college fest.
I believe IIIT students are real good.

SK: Thanks so much for taking this forward. I am gonna really have to
take tips from you on time management :) especially when I am here in
office on sunday!!!

Hi,

The first couple of things to be finalized:

* Date(s)
* Seminar hall/labs that can be used for the event.

This will help others book early tickets, call for sponsors, and
volunteers can start to coordinate things. If we need to do prior
workshops for students at IIIT, we can also plan them.

So, I request IIIT folks to arrange for a suitable date for discussing
and finalizing the above (with Krish, Satyakaam, and
myself[optional]).

I would prefer to be open to discussion to all. In this regard, could
we also talk to:

* Prof. Haasan, Department of Astronomy, Osmania University.

I believe their department has been renovated, and they could be a
possible venue?

Any thoughts?

Govt. Institute of Electronics also has a nice Auditorium with 100+
seating.

I am yet to see any FOSS enthusiasm from them.
