Please note that our Conversation Sessions has changed rooms
permanently. We will now hold the event in Alice Hoy 225 which is
attached to the Sidney Myer Asia Centre. A map will be available on the

J-DRAMA SESSIONS

We will start our long-awaited J-Drama Sessions next week! Come along,
relax and watch real Japanese TV with English subtitles on two
projection screens! This is your chance to make new friends and further
improve on your listening comprehension skills while watching 'Hana yori
dango'. Japanese snacks will be provided!

break)

SEEKING JAPANESE CLASS PARTICIPANTS

Our Japanese Department is seeking native Japanese speakers to attend
some of their classes on 5th and/or 13th September. You will be required
to speak with a group of beginner and/or intermediate level students in

FREE EVENT: THE 11TH JAPANESE FILM FESTIVAL

This is an annual showcase of Japanese Film Festival in Melbourne to
celebrate its 11th year, held by the Consulate-General of Japan,
Melbourne, the Japan Foundation, Sydney, supported by Australian Centre
for the Moving Image.
Free tickets will be available from Saturday 27 ~ Wednesday 31 October
2007 at ACMI Box Office (Federation Square) 10 am-6pm.

JAPANESE POTTERY EXHIBITION
------------------------------------------
This exhibition introduces some of the promising artists working
traditional pottery areas who are producing notable contemporary works
in the ceramic genre. Focusing on "vessels", the exhibition illustrates
how artists understand the functions of a vessel in an attempt to grasp
the nature of Japanese pottery today.Some seek to further enhance
traditional techniques while working in places where pottery has been
made for centuries, adding refinements in design in the effort to create
even richer works of art. Others strive to free themselves from the
fetters of tradition and create individualistic ceramic wares by pursing
completely new forms adapted to modern lifestyles.
