Prefabricated stairs have become an integral part of modern construction due to their efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and versatility. Whether for industrial facilities or commercial buildings, prefabricated stairs offer numerous advantages over traditional on-site construction.
In my continuing self-education of Revit, I noticed something with Stairs about which I'd like feedback. I have been experimenting with Tags and have created a Stair Tag with a label for the parameter Width as shown on the right window of the image below. I then tagged my stair component and the tag value provided "?". As I usually do, I tried to change this to show a length using a few approaches. First, I clicked on the tag to see if it would allow me to type in a value: no luck, the tag would not allow manual manipulation. Second, I selected the stair component and looked in both the Instance and Type properties for a parameter called "Width," and noticed it does not exist. Yes, there is a parameter called "Minimum Run Width," but since this does not bear the exact name "Width," I imagine this is a different parameter. Third, I selected the Stair Run element and looked in its Instance and Type properties and again found no Width parameter, only "Actual Run Width."
I have concluded that stairs have no "Width" parameter, only the width-related parameter I mentioned above in my second experiment. Furthermore, this parameter is not available in a Stair Tag family. I did find out later that a Stair Run Tag has the option for the Actual Run Width parameter, so this will accomplish what I need. Nonetheless, I am wondering why the Stair Tag family editor provides an option for Width when no such parameter exists. Is this a ghost of a parameter which has been allowed to linger in each successive Revit version?
They revamped stairs completely then with the introduction of Component Stairs and Top Rails and what not. But the old geezer stairs, along with their antiquated "Width" Parameters, still remain in Legacy Projects.
Ever wonder why there are brackets around some of the Line Style Names and not others. Those with the brackets are the old geezer Line Styles. They cannot be deleted because they are purposeful - and needed - if you were to ever open/upgrade an old geezer file.
These cost-effective stair treads simultaneously improve safety and the bottom line. Available in a wide range of colors with contrasting inserts and Grit Tape, these options also satisfy California Title 24 requirements, ADA Recommendations for the Visually Impaired, and commercial requirements for slip resistance.

I am trying to clear out some Warnings which I received (and usually do) when I creat stairs. Although the warning states that I may ignore it; however, I am trying to figure out where I am going wrong to avoid such warnings in the future.
1. I tried first to set level assignment for both base and top as well as the top and bottom Offset to match exactly the total height of the stair from top of bottom slab to top of upper slab. I set the desired number of treads as well as I let Revit calculate the desired no. of Treads and Risers. Either way I still receive the warning.
3. I tried leaving the stair unconnected to top slab (top level; none) and setting the desired height manually in the Properties. Still getting the same warning. Tried to adjust the Relative top height as suggested in the warning. Still cant get rid of the warning.
Well looking at the section and 3D the top tread is perfectly aligned with the finish level of the top slab; which is actually where it should be. But I cant seem to be able to get rid of this warning even if I try to delete it! Where am I going wrong?!
If you have a customized nosing and used that as your nosing stair profile, can set the riser to be slanted? I tried, but I cannot get it right. I don't know what went wrong. If you use a Revit default nosing profile, then you will be able to set your riser slanted. thanks.
How do I add a landing at the end top that sized the same as the tread? I tried to edit the stair and I added a landing (using the create sketch component) at the end of the stair, however the newly created landing at the end gets closed by a railing.

I am trying to create a stair with 2 risers on the wind, but the tool insists on putting in 3... I enclose some sketches, the stair on the right is a simple exterusion model of what I am trying to create, and on the left is the closest I can get with the stair tool... Any pointers on how to draw what I want? If not, perhaps something for the wishlist...
Its an existing stair in a 100 year old UK terraced house so it's legality, building code compliance or safety concerns are not a major issue!! I can't however seem to find a 'legacy' "custom" stair tool... only the "simple" or "circular" stair. Is the custom option only in Designer? I am using the default tool with the settings options as per image stair 5... Only other tools I can see are those mentioned above, image stair 4
Please whoever in VW is in charge of the Stair tool, you need to understand that the world is not ruled by US regs [or any other single dominion]. In the UK, we do not have the walk-line rule. AT ALL. Not for existing / old stairs, nor for Proposed / new stairs. We do have a rule regarding Offset, but I wouldn't want to impose this on any other country. So please allow us to over-ride the Walk-line.
Unfortunately the stair tool still flat out sucks despite everyone clamoring for a better one. can't customize stairs, the menus are ridiculous and almost impossible to understand. Completely counterintuitive. Custom stair tool will do this stair but because its legacy, prone to fail, or at least that's been my experience. you have to be gentle with it.

I was disappointed, then, to discover it was simply a reference to a haunting. By tying it to a real place and a known story, the strange, disconcerting nonsense at the heart of it was lost. Because nonsense is what it is. It is playfully impossible. He cannot be not there. But he is. He was. And so am I.
My father said nothing, as I had taken him up the stairs an hour before, and he now lay dead in his chair, his heart unsuited for the expedition. He had sworn at me as he tried to climb them to the top, telling me I was no son of his, and I was trying to agree with him, but if I could have done so, then he would have been wrong. Eventually, after almost an hour descending the spiral, he keeled over in his seat and lay lifeless. My mother got abruptly to her feet, and told my father that they were leaving. My father got to his feet, and silently followed her out. I never saw either of them again.
There is, of course, a different reading, which is that this is a targeted warning about trusting Michael, given the obvious parallels: swap out stairways for corridors and spirals for fractals, and there you go. The Nowhere Man thing is new, though. What was it Leitner said about the Spiral? It deals with fooling your senses, drawing your mind into difficult paths, making you doubt the reality you live in.
