All,

Kindly be informed that our colleague Dr. Benson Mwakalukwa first year PG from internal medicine his car was stolen yesterday at the MUHAS football ground.

To the e mail you are alerted to take necessary precautions when parking your car around MUHAS and Muhimbili Hospital areas as this is the fifth incidence of theft.

We are working with the management of both MUHAS and MNH to see the best ways we can deal with such incidences and measures so that it wont happen in the future.

i believe someone who spends a significant amount if not most of time in the campus masterminds this kind of theft. in past few years there was an epidemic of laptop theft in undergraduate hostels which ceased after the thief was found who used to roam around in students' hostels.
tightening the security measures will reduce such incidences; we need more than just applying for parking permit at campus premises and being provided with one.

I always parked at the same place (under the trees at the football ground) since January 2014 and had a routine of parking in the morning and returning in the afternoon at around 1400hrs or later.
I always locked the steering and doors. Its like someone closely monitored my routine and probably had several trials and errors trying to unlock the doors probably using a batch of duplicate keys (from wherever) and succeeded on the day of the incidence.
I made a duplicate of the key of course but I used a third part who is my brother with whom I share the car. He did not go there with the car and it only took 5 minutes; that's the only leak I see that could have been used to make another duplicate of the key that was used in stealing my car.

Just a theory, but it could also be a coincidence, this theft took place during in the midst of undergraduate breather. Someone very smart wanted it to look like "it happened in his/her absence".
