Received some pictures today from a gathering a couple of nights ago.
I can open them on my desktop but I can't move them to iPhoto because
it doesn't recognize them. No big deal but I am curious if there is a
way to do it. jim

When you drag and drop onto the iPhoto icon, they don't import/copy/
open in iPhoto?

Possibly Graphic Convertor could change them to file type recognized
by tPhoto.

Send them to me Jim & I'll see what format they are & change them to
a jpeg so that iPhoto will recognize them.

Did you try to delete ".webloc" and drop on the iphoto icon? It is
probably not recognizing the extension part after .jpg....Doug

It is EXTREMELY unusual that the Finder will open them but iPhoto
won't, when they both use the same Quicktime and graphics engine built
in to the OS. As Doug Feick points out, perhaps it's a legacy
extension that iPhoto itself doesn't recognize.

You can't send attachments to Muglo Jim, you would have to send it
directly to me at "teeca...@isp.ca"

Douglas is right tho, you need to strip everything past ".jpg", ie:
get rid of ".webloc".

That would have been my advice, too, Tee, but I've never seen ".webloc"
before. Any idea what put it there or what its purpose was?

I would hazard a guess that it is a web site/programme for viewing
photos, poor PCers have a number of like sites.

Hello Jim,

Did you get the photos via the internet? When you copied the files to your desktop it appears as if you only copied the .webloc, not the file. Select the picture in question and try pressing ctrl-click to save the picture.

See if that helps.

HI Jim
you get a .webloc extension from webpage links you drag to the desktop
you need to go back to the webpage you got the images from and either
drag the images to your desktop,
or right click/CTRL click and choose save image... or right click/CTRL
click and choose Add to iPhoto Library (depending on which version of
Mac OS you're using

I think you are right Dean. My wife put the photos on my desktop and I just
dragged them to iphoto. Always worked in the past. When it didn't I tried
opening them and they opened.
However ...
I later learned that the photos had actually be sent to my wife's website
and she moved them to mine(ours). Therein, I suspect, is the problem. Jim
