I have had problems with both CS2 and CS3 Illustrator refusing to
save or open files. I tracked it down to a damaged user account (I'm
on 10.4.11), and can now run Illustrator when logged into a newly
created account. While it was thrilling to finally be able to open a
CS3 file, it doesn't do me much good in isolation from everything
else in my workflow. My original account has two years of accumulated
settings and files and everything but Illustrator works fine there. I
used disk utility to try to repair disk permissions, but CS3-AI still
won't work in my original account.

Basically, I need the settings, preferences, and folders as they
appear in my original account. How do I transfer or migrate them to
the new account? Is there some easier way than migrating (if that
indeed exists)? Can I create a new account that has access to
everything without going through a whole transfer shmansfer nightmare?

I will be grateful for any help or suggestions on how to resolve
this. Thank you...

Mary

"Migration" should work fine, at least it has for me with a few
changes of CPUs.

Ha ha. I was hoping to avoid buying a whole new machine, but consider
it under advisement. Thanks for your help.

You misunderstood, I was advising using the programme "migration",
which can be used anytime. You DO Not have to buy a new machine!!
