Yup.

Appleworks will continue to work. There's nothing wrong with it.

What precisely do you need in Appleworks that isn't in the iWork suite?

That;s why I'm asking is there anything besides keynote that I would
benefit from going to iWork?

AppleWorks had a database application which sadly is lacking from iWork.

If you need one, Bento from FileMaker is a template based app in the
same vein as iWork and available for $50.

Most everything I used Hypercard for - to build a database for
invoices, address, etc has been subsumed by built in Apps. I never
used the Appleworks database because Hypercard was far more flexible
and configurable. About the only major thing I use Numbers for is an
invoicing application. It is workable.

Look into Bento. It is pretty useful for building some customized
databases. May or may not be what you need. It doesn't always link
live to existing System app/databases like Address Book, instead
keeping its own copy of the information fed to it.

You can insert tables - mini spreadsheets into Pages. A lot of useful
database functions are distributed throughout the OS.

Appleworks 6 still works in O/S 10.4...I use it still because of the
total integration & disagree with Doug about the Database. APW 6 is a
dream to set up. Only drawback is that it is a flat file type, but I
rarely have the need for any other type. The Drawing is great for
scale drawings, Spreadsheet is very useful for all sorts of number
crunching, Painting is fun, but Presentations is quite weak, although
I simply use the Word processor for that.
I Works is improving, but it aint a patch on Appleworks yet!

While a number of my clients report much better compatibility between Pages/Word; Numbers/Excel... One BIG caution is that Pages WILL NOT allow you to create password protected documents as you can in AW.

I still continue to use AW even though I have access to Word etc. I
can't comment on Pages/Numbers etc as I don't have them - what do you
expect from a 1998 G3 with G4 processor. I must be getting old because
I find the newer programs have just too much stuff I really don't need.
I'm sure that's typical of most average and perhaps above average
users. If you really know AW there are a lot of work arounds that can
be used to make it do the stuff you want. I've been using it for
forever and I'm still learning things.

FileMaker Pro is likely overkill as a database for most people because
to make it really fly takes a certain investment in time. I am slowly
moving over much of my AW word processing to FMP because of the need to
manage the info. Down side is that those files are starting to get
big! From what I have read Bento is OK until you need to do something
a bit different.

I still love AW5 for the Apple][! especially with UltraMacros. It
rules (d?)!

Martin
