[Discuss] What are VPNs & are they worth it?

My use of Linux is restricted to web browsing and emailing.

I have a dual boot PC (Linux/Windows) and it is a stand alone (no network).

So, what the heck are VPNs?

Should an at home PC user get a VPN?
