Turns out Ludum Dare (bi-annual online game creation contest) #15 is
this weekend.
For those interested, this is a 48 hour themed game creation contest.
It is open to anyone willing to attempt creating a game from start to
finish in two days. It is meant to be a learning experience as well
as an interesting community venture. So if you have any free time I
highly suggest taking a look.
If you are interested, but are unsure of how to participate, here is a
short list of languages and game libraries available:
Ruby - Gosu (
http://www.libgosu.org/)
Lua - Love (
http://love2d.org/)
Python - Pygame (

Sorry for the late notice, I just found out an hour ago myself.
