I have installed MySql and Apache server using XAMPP under Windows Vista. MySql and Apache keep running even though I tried to stop them using the XAMPP Control Center. The Error message is "Error: MySql Service not stopped [-1]"
How can I stop them? Why does this problem occurs?
P.S I can't ask the question in the apachefriends.org forum (where I downloaded XAMPP) because it is all written in German (-: .
I had this problem with windows 7 . I have solved this problem with select run as administrator. right click on xampp control panel icon than check
run as administrator in compatibility section. Now every things work fine.
well my local site is in a subfolder in the htdocs directory of xampp.
I used image and img_assist modules to create the images.
Strangely, I can upload a database from my local site to the remote site and everything works fine, when I go the other way it fails.
I dumped all database entries of my local database and imported the remote one, then the problem showed up. When I dump it again and load the previously (now outdated) local backup it works.
When i open the database with a texteditor this is what I see:

Go to the C://xampp folder and double-click on the xampp-control.exe file.
To start any module, click on the Start button next to the module. To stop it, click on the Stop button. For instance, to start/stop the Apache web server module, click on the Start/Stop button next to Apache.
Save the file as hello.php to your htdocs folder.
On Windows, the htdocs folder is located in your XAMPP installation directory (i.e., C:\xampp).
