named The World Games Athlete
of the Month

Drone
Racing star Killian Rousseau
has been honoured as
February 2025 Athlete of the
Month by The World Games
Association, recognising his
outstanding achievements in
the sport.
As the reigning World Games
Champion, he continues to set
the standard with his skill
and dedication, as he prepare
to defend his title at The
World Games 2025 this August
in Chengdu, China.

Bruckmann
(AUT) wins sixth FAI Indoor
Aerobatic Model Aircraft world
champion title

The
FAI F3P World Championships
for Indoor Aerobatic Model
Aircraft in Widen,
Switzerland, saw Austria’s
Gernot Bruckmann claim his
sixth title.
Team
France dominated, with Maxime
Schmitt winning F3P-AFM,
junior Lucas Poncet excelling
in both categories, and the
team securing the top spot in
the National Teams ranking.

Czech
air sports heroes celebrated
at annual Gala Awards

Czech
air sports heroes took
centre stage at a gala
evening last Friday in Ústí,
Czechia. The event,
organised by the
Aero Club of Czech
Republic, was attended by
distinguished guests
including President Petr
Pavel and FAI Companion of
Honour Alvaro de
Orleans-Borbon.
The award for Czech Aviation
Athlete of the Year 2024 was
named as world champion glider
aerobatic pilot Marek Veselý.
Air sports trainer of the year
was awarded to Čestmír Zítka,
head coach of the Czech
women’s national parachuting
team since 2018. A special
prize was awarded to Václav
Šorel for his dedication to
building awareness for
aviation.

Soccer makes history: Shanghai
to host the first ever FAI
World Championships in 2025

The
first ever FAI World
Drone Soccer Championships
will take place in Shanghai,
China, from 15 to 18
November 2025. An
emerging Aeromodelling
sport, Drone Soccer combines
precision flying, teamwork,
and strategy in a thrilling,
fast-paced competition.
What sets it apart in air
sports is its real-time,
head-to-head gameplay, where
teams actively compete to
score goals while defending
against opponents.

Elite
pilots invited to compete in
International Helicopter Races
2025 in Poland

From 12-15 June 2025,
helicopter pilots will gather
in Płock, Poland for the
International Helicopter
Races, a unique competition
showcasing precision flying,
teamwork, and aerial skill.
Participants will compete in the
two helicopter competition
disciplines of Slalom and Fender
Rigging, testing their flying
accuracy and control.
Registration is open until 20
May.

FAI
introduces first Para-Sports
discipline: ‘Indoor Para
Skydiving’

FAI has announced the
official recognition of Indoor
Para Skydiving as its first
para-sports discipline. The
sport will debut with a World
Cup in 2026, followed by the
inaugural FAI World
Championships in 2027.
Indoor Para Skydiving is an
adaptation of the FAI-recognised
sport of indoor skydiving, with
parameters and regulations
specifically designed to provide
opportunities for athletes with
physical or cognitive special
needs to compete at
international level.

webinar "Sick
or injured: make sure you
FLY CLEAN" will
take place on 2 April 2025
at 13:00 UTC. It will
explore how injuries and
illness can impact doping
risks.
Many
air sports persons have
experienced injuries or
illness during their careers.
However, few are aware of the
doping risks that may come
with them. The FAI is
committed to maintaining a
clean sport culture by
equipping athletes, coaches,
clubs, and members with the
knowledge needed to uphold
clean sport values—even when
dealing with injuries or
illness.
