I had a bit of a mental melt down last week. I was supposed to run 10
miles but that was just really too aggressive at this point. Really
depressed me for a day or two. So I reset and decided to run the "new
guy" schedule (Margaret, you were right).

Today was a great day running. I had a tremendous amount of energy.
My first mile was 8:54. No idea where I got the energy from but I
hope I can find it every time I run. I learned today its much more
fun to run fast than to run slow. One of the first times I truly
enjoyed running. I wanted to run more after I stopped.

Tim--I'm glad you are on a good training schedule!  I'm in week three of the "new guy" schedule and really starting to feel my legs out--but it has been so HOT!

I've been tracking my times and have been faster than I would have expected, pacing anywhere between 8:30 and 9:45 for training runs from 2-6 miles.  The pacing is just a sideshow though--I am more focused on building the mileage to finish the USMC Marathon rather than a particular time.

I'm thinking about setting up a web-page with running blog so people who donate to the Amercian Cancer Society on my behalf can check in on my training progress. Does anyone know of a good hosting sight or anything??

The first idea that pops into my head is maybe "MySpace".  Its free and you can do a lot with it.  Buford might know of more sites.
