I think even Networks had few question off the syllabus.

Such as:
BOOTP, DHCP
Kerberos Protocol
TFTP.

Yes i totally agree with all of you. I dont think anybody who sees that paper says it was an MS question paper. There was hardly any important topics covered in that question paper. I could not answer 4 questions in that. This seriously affects our marks and i kindly request MAGE to take some action regarding this.

Santosh

Yes, it took couple of minutes to accept that this is really an Advanced Computer Architecture paper. Examination hall's invigilator/supervisor  had to come and confirm that subject code is same as one which is there in hall ticket and it is really an architecture question paper. I hope this explains the type of questions that was part of Architecture question paper!

Arun

Hello Ravish, Rajendra

The questions in ACAA paper were related to Operating System Question paper.
See questions below.

Q7: Explain TLB, paging and segmentation in virtual memory.
Q9: Illustrate explain the following two memory allocation schemes
    (A) Swapping  (B) Demand Paging
Q10: Explain the working of backplane bus systems
Q4:Explain RISC and CISC architecture
Q6: Show and explain relationship between computational granularity and computational latency.

These topics were not present in PPT's or Docs uploaded in portal. Pls check while preparing the Question Paper.
It was very difficult to write this paper.

Shishir

Dear Ravish, Rajendra,

Yesterday we wrote the examination for Advanced Computer Architecture and Algorithm (CSE 606).

On behalf of my batch CS 10 B, I want to bring to your notice that our batch has done extremely bad in the examination. This is because around 50% of the questions in the exam, (those topics) were never discussed in the class or mentioned by the faculty (or directly in syllabus) as part of the syllabus.

Specifically :
Q4: Explain RISC and CISC architecture
Q6: Show and explain relationship between computational granularity and computational latency.
Q7: Explain TLB, paging and segmentation in virtual memory.
Q8. Draw a three stage pipeline and explain how reservation tables are drawn for non-linear pipeline processors.
Q9: Illustrate explain the following two memory allocation schemes
    (A) Swapping  (B) Demand Paging
Q10: Explain the working of backplane bus systems

You may please compare these questions and the slides uploaded on the portal. You will not find any of the above mentioned topics being covered in the class.
For more clarification you may even consult our ACA Professor, Mr Mouli Sankaran regarding the topics he had discussed in class.

Kindly let us know, what steps does Manipal University or MAGE takes in such cases where close to 50% of the questions are either out of syllabus or not covered by the faculty in class lectures.

Since this is the concern from the complete batch, they are also in the loop.

@ CS 10 B : Please respond if you want to add any further detail/clarification to this e-mail.

Best Regards,
Baldev

I totally agree with Amit. The numerical were really uncovered in class/slides. We did not had these patterns/numerical to even practice during course.
