I am trying to get feedback on the international consultancy firm http://www.lateralhiring.com/ .

This consultancy firm tries to place you abroad, by scheduling interviews with International Companies, based on your current role and profile. They charge $120 initially for scheduling at-least 5 interviews; and then after getting job, they seek 20% of your first months' salary.

I am planning to consider this to seek job abroad. So, need your suggestions, feedback and help before committing anything.

Hi Bhanu,

Here is what I have seen in US:

Firstly, make sure that the consultancy is not fake. Bcoz many consultancies are fake. Ask them what are the companies they are dealing with and how many people have they placed and ask them to show you a proof for everything. Do your background check thoroughly about the consultancy.

And your H1B process is another head ache. You must have heard this year H1B's files were around 170K for just 65K quota. So depends on how many H1B's will be filed next year. Make sure they apply for ur H1B and give you a tracking number. Again Bcoz many consultancies say they have applied for the H1B but they wouldn't have. 

Make sure they don't have any hidden fees etc. Ask them who is gonna pay for your H1B visa fee as its not a small amount. If its a profit organization it would be around $6,000-$10,000.

When they tell you about any companies which you haven't heard. Please make sure to do a lot of background check about those companies. Don't just believe anything they say.

As per I have seen companies don't usually want to hire people if they are not here in US. You need to have extraordinary skills for the companies to hire you here from there in India. That's one reason why people come here for doing their masters and then get a job.

I have already applied with them (via Naukri.com) and going through Stage 1 of Documents Verification (which takes 21 days).

Today is Saturday and on Monday, 21 days will be complete.

I asked them the interview process a couple of days ago, to which they replied that they will let me know after completing Stage 1. Stage 2 lasts for another month durig which interviews are held.

AFAIK (please correct me if I'm wrong), the work VISA and traveling is taken care of by the company itself.

Are there any more specific queries I should be asking them? I have no idea at all about how exactly things work for jobs abroad. This thread was not there when I Google Search'd about their website before applying.

I am waiting for Bhanu's reply too, but meanwhile, any more details will help.

One of my another friend, Kaustav, tried to gather some info on their office address. He found out in google maps that the address they provided is in a residential society and not in an office location.

Here's the update:

They mentioned that the verification is successfully complete, and now it will take 6 months for the Stage 2 (as communicated earlier).

Their earlier communication mentioned about 60 working days (which is roughly 3 months), and I have asked them why such a discrepancy. I am on a break from work (for the last 6 months now), and to make my next move could be difficult for me. I anyway applied there, because 7K is not a big deal, but discrepancies and lack of clear communication is what I don't expect.

Anyway, just wanted to post my update because I wrote earlier. I am looking at this positively. I don't think they will change that to less than 6 months now. The ball is in my court.

Even I have received message from Jessica from lateralhiring.com and they have charged $120 for the same.

I have not yet decided to if to pursue the same, and had asked her multiple questions through e-mail.

She had called me a couple of times to convince me, and I had asked similar questions.

I also requested them to setup a Skype account where we could speak. She said that their company doesnt have a Skype account, and cannot set the same up, since they are really busy.

I am still skeptical, if to pursue the same.

A little over 7000 INR is kind of ok, but you also submit the scanned copies of your documents.

Moreover, I am not sure, if anybody has got interview calls, as of now, as they claim.

Any suggestion/guidance in this regard,or updates that you might have received in the meanwhile will be highly appreciated.

If there is so much skepticism about the whole thing and even after such a big group we are not able to get even a single recommendation from anyone, it is more likely to be a fraud.

Even if they arrange for 5 interviews, they are not ready to share the profile of the companies they will be arranging interview with so in all probability the easiest reply can be that you are not selected. After all it is not a standard exam where you can check your right and wrong answers.

Without the name of the companies provided we can never be sure whether we will be willing to join the company even if job is offered. 

Just my 2 cents. Let me know if anybody finds the name of the companies they will arrange interview with

They are claiming that their office is in Sydney,Australia and if they are doing business in Australia they must have ABN number.

They are cheater and scammer.

I am not sure why the asian countries claim to be growing by leaps and bounds and still their countrymen make every possible attempt to come and steal our jobs. I am just following this thread closely and just amused why you people cannot find work in your own country. I do not think this is racist talk as I have read stories in India media where people from one state attack the ones from other when these are stealing the jobs, right under their noses.

But the fault is ours. Our government has grown too soft to the boat people and giving their entitlements when they do not deserve any. The new boat people entering Australia are a nuisance and would cost the tax payers heavily.

What would your reaction be if people from lets say Bangladesh/Somalia/Afganistan come and start stealing your jobs ?I am sure that won't bring a very peaceful action from you.

Spoiled and lazy doesn't describe a large portion of my country, but then those people have an education or went out and started a business, and aren't looking for jobs in call centers at $10 an hour. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. For over 20 years I held management positions, but five years ago I moved from England to the US with my husband. After receiving my work permit, I applied for around 150 jobs without success. Once a company realised I was not you, I ceased to exist. The only company to consider me was looking for call-centre employees at minimum wage. They offered me a job for which I am very grateful. Believe me, when you do not have a job and have bills to pay, minimum wage looks like a windfall. Many of my colleagues also have years of experience but have taken a low-paying job out of desperation, not because they could not get anything better. Your opinion shows how ignorant you are.....

Their average wages start from 35K-40K annually for marketing and customer support.Few of my friends are working there and their salary is now 65K (after 6 year).

Regarding ACN/ABN number it does not have parent company or things like that.
IF you are registering a business than ABN is must and for company ACN is must.

Lateralhiring people has enter into the group and making nuisance comment.

Their target is mass people and they know that they can make easy money with these kind of things.

Also for work visa, there are certain rules and regulation by immigration.
They have to qualify with certain amount of points and it takes lots of time to get visa in australia.

Lateralhiring.com thinks that they are smart enough to make people fool and grab money from people pocket.

Why not drop an email to Australian and Singapore Embassy for this company to understand how Legit they are. I have already dropped a mail to LateralHiring stating I am dropping a mail to the respective embassies to see if they recognize LateralHiring as Legit job facilitators.

I would reckon all you guys to drop a mail to the respective embassies and LH informing them about it. I hardly got any positive response from LH so I am a bit skeptical and won't go-ahead with this.

They recently changed there domain name from Lateralhiring.com to lateraljobs.com. They are clearly a fraud. We all lost our money. I tried raising a case to Naukri,godaddy.com where they are hosting there site. Also, The there security site. I would suggest someone create a glassdoor account and add there experience. Not only this site but any site anyone encounter. Its on us to spread the word about these fraud companies so that other people are alerted about the wrongdoings these money sucking fraud organizations do.

First Patricia said Stage 1 (Verification) will run for 21 working days, but after 35 working days also they didnt come back. So I sent mail again and after 40 days they said Stage 1 is completed and next Interview process will go for another 6 months :( :(. They keep us just waiting and we need to repeatedly ask for the status.

I am happy to be a part of this conversation.Yes its been fake as some of my friends have been paid to this guys and lost their hopes..Getting job from India is not an easy task, so this guys are targeting our community guys through Naukri..Hence even Naukri.com will not take any action to this guys might be bcoz they are paid registered employers for naukri as they want their business to grow up, they might only take action if someone take the initiative and file a case with the proof in the court ..

Well i work in middle east.Even I have applied earlier in this countries and what I have notice in my carrier is that in the countries which we all are approaching first of all we have to do R&D about their requirements as they prefer the people form specific core areas and domains, either in IT, Marketing,Sales or Retail.. secondly if the company is reputed mostly they prefer min 5 years of exp candidates in same area, then only we can approach through some good Jobs sites like Bayt.com, Monestergulf.com, Recruit.net, JobsCentral.com, totaljobs.com, all this sites we can find recruiter email ids and some contact no. where in u can apply and contact them directly..If suites ur profile interesting surely they will call back..

Or the other slow and easier process is we have to search our domains companies through Google and apply online which basically chances are bit lesser to get click but this option will work out only to those guys who are working and can manage a patience..

Hi All,

We need to do something so that Naurki doesnt allow such fake consultancies to operate. It is playing with ones career,dreams along with loosing the money.Payment is done through Paypal we need to inform Paypal atleast they might do something.

If anyone has relatives/friends in Australia, they can go to the office and see it that a fake consultancy or what.

Initially, I thought to pay $120 but after going through all your comments I decided not to register with them.

i got a mail from them 3 months ago mentioning all the same points as posted earlier. Initially, I thought that this is a genuine consultancy but still I kept on finding reviews about it. I waited 3 months for it and finally today I found this tread mentioning everything.
