I'm going to take a run at a manual for Smail because the one in the
distribution is somewhat hard to read and dates back a few years.
The approach I'm taking is to explain the installation and configuration
from the point of view of some typical sites:
1) Small office (1 Smail server with POP/IMAP Wintel/Mac clients, dialup
to the Internet)
2) ISP: many dial-in connections and some full-time downstream sites,
anti-SPAM measures.
3) Company or institution: several departments on intranet and one mail
gateway, transient users, some mailing lists.
I'm open to any suggestions for configuration files or compile-time
options, as well as instructions on how to build on various platforms (I
can provide OpenBSD and I can scam some time on a HP-UX 10.20 box, but I
need help from others). I posted a similar request last fall and I still
have that info on hand (config files, etc.).
Also, is there a FAQ for Smail (even if it's out of date)?
I'll post the work in progress when it's at a reasonable state. For now,
I'm keeping it plain text but I was planning on HTML, PDF and
ready-to-print PostScript for the release version. Any preferences?
Ciao!
