Hi,

I did a lot of work on the FreeBSD/alpha port about 10 years ago.
Sadly, FreeBSD has lost interest in the alpha, and I have no real need
for my alphas anymore. We are moving soon, and I need to get rid of
some of my excess equipment.

I have an UP1000 and an XP1000 that I'd be willing to ship to
somebody in the US (ideally the recipient would reimburse my shipping
costs, these are boat anchors). I have until Tues to get rid of them,
as that is a rare computer recycling day at my wife's work. If
anybody is interested, please let me know.

Thanks,

Drew

As others have pointed out, I should have mentioned where I live --
the 27513 zip code. The XP 1000 weights about 45lbs and the UP1000
weighs about 34lbs according to a bathroom scale.

The UP1000 works fine the last I checked, it was main main workstation
until 2004 or so. It has a graphics card.

The XP1000 is a little flaky. It will power on when it is laid on its
side. When standing vertically like it was meant to do, it will not
make it through the SRM self test due to PCI bus errors. See

Sad times everyone is getting rid of their Alphas. I just sold 6 old
AlphaServers myself. Hope yours get a sanctuary, too.

Mmm, it's a good time to be looking for one. =) I'm in search of an
8200 or 8400, though.

My Alpha went to the computer lab in the sky after a break in - for
some reason the burglars decided to up end several of my computers and
pour water in them. Perhaps they thought the camera on top of the SGI
Indy was recording them ... So, anyone looking to get rid of an Alpha
workstation in the UK?

The alphas are now gone. It is a sad day for me.

Thanks,

Drew
