End of Year Address from the Chairman of Madonna University Alumni Association Lagos Chapter (MUAALAG)
Unique Madonnite,
As we draw the curtain on 2024, it is with profound gratitude, reflection, and hope that I address you. This year has been a testament to the strength, unity, and resilience of our beloved association. Together, we have navigated both triumphs and challenges, and I am proud of what we have achieved as a family.
Celebrating Our Achievements
2024 was a year of remarkable milestones for MUAALAG. Despite the odds, we stood tall and achieved the following:
1. Annual Praise Session: Our vibrant and spirit-filled Praise Session brought us together in thanksgiving, reaffirming our bond and commitment to God.
2. Valentine’s Movie Hangout: This creative and fun event allowed us to connect, unwind, and strengthen our social ties at the cluster level in a relaxed setting.
3. Inaugural Business Breakfast: In June, we hosted our first-ever Business Breakfast, an insightful and empowering gathering that provided a platform for networking, learning, and fostering professional growth.
4. Return of the Johnson Ogbeche Memorial Fun Fair Day: This beloved event, in honour of our dearly departed brother, Johnson Ogbeche made its comeback, creating cherished memories and reinforcing our sense of community and togetherness.
5. MUAALAG Cares Initiative: In honour of Omolara and Ada BB, through this initiative, we demonstrated compassion and social responsibility, reaching out to touch lives and make a difference in our communities. We also used this initiative to gift cash and foodstuff to some of our members who otherwise, would have had a bleak Christmas.
These successes were made possible by your support, participation, and shared vision for the growth of MUAALAG.
Acknowledging Our Challenges
This year was also marked by moments of profound loss and significant challenges:
1. The Passing of Two Pillars of MUAALAG:
• In March, we lost His Worship Omolara Osanyin, a former Welfare Officer whose exemplary service and selflessness remain a source of inspiration.
• In September, we were deeply grieved by the passing of Miss Adaku ‘Ada BB’ Anumudu, whose unwavering dedication, humour, vibrant spirit and delectable pastries left an indelible mark on our hearts.
In their honor, we made the difficult but respectful decision to cancel this year’s end-of-year party. Their legacies will forever remain a cornerstone of our association.
2. Financial Constraints: The inconsistent payment of monthly dues significantly limited our ability to execute some of our plans fully. We understand the impact
3. Resource Management: While we achieved much, there were logistical hurdles in ensuring the seamless execution of our programs.
Expressions of Gratitude
Firstly, I thank the Almighty for all our members and everything achieved this year. I also want to sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed to the successes we recorded this year:
• Our National President, Mr. Chuka Nwachukwu, and the National Executive Council (NEC): Your unwavering support and encouragement were instrumental in our achievements.
• My Executive Team: Your commitment, teamwork, and passion continue to drive our beloved chapter forward.
• Former Chairmen and Excos: Thank you for the strong foundation you laid and the guidance you continue to provide.
• All Events Planning Committees: Your creativity, resourceful and hard work made every event memorable.
• All our esteemed Members: Your contributions, participation, and encouragement are the lifeblood of MUAALAG.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we look forward to 2025, our plans are ambitious, and our resolve is strong. Here’s what lies ahead:
1. Bigger and Better Events: Expect enhanced versions of our Praise Session, Valentine’s Day Hangout, Easter Cluster Hangout, Business Breakfast, and Johnson Ogbeche Memorial Fun Fair amongst others.
2. Strengthened MUAALAG Cares Initiative: We will expand our outreach and impact, fostering a deeper connection with our communities.
3. Improved Financial Engagement: We will introduce strategies to encourage timely payment of dues, ensuring sustainable funding for our activities.

Conclusion
As we close the chapter on 2024, let us remember the lessons we’ve learned, the victories we’ve celebrated, and the loved ones we’ve lost. Together, we will honor their memories by striving for greater heights in 2025.
I wish you and your families a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year. Let us continue to build, grow, and succeed—united as one MUAALAG family.
