I had this problem for the first time just now, after upgrading to 1.6.1 (actually, from doing "git clone
https://github.com/djcb/mu" a few hours ago) and running mu init, mu index. mu4e was trying to load the file
1628221636.5334_880.mcba1\,U\=98282\:2\,S which didn't exist. However, 1628221636.5334_880.mcba1\,U\=98282\:2\,RS (note the "R" flag at the end) did exist. Once this happens, you are stuck at "Loading message..." and the only way out appears to be to exit emacs. Re-running "mu index" fixed the problem (at least until the next time a glitch like this occurs).
