Setting for a default program for opening .doc/.docx files

On Linux, how would I go about setting Libreoffice as the default program to use when I click on an attached .doc/docx file? (people keep sending me these files unfortunately).

mu4e uses `xdg-open' (by default)[1], so you should be able to change
the defaults using `xdg-settings' (see [2] for some examples).

Your distro may have some graphical tool for that as well.
