Single-window view regression in 1.14?

Hi all,

This is my first post—apologies if this isn’t the right place to ask.

I’m a big fan of the simple interface you get with mu4e-split-view set to single-window (or nil). However, since the 1.14 update, I can no longer move forward/back or refile/delete a message while viewing it in the single-window article view.

This worked fine before the update, and the same actions still work in split-view (horizontal or vertical). But in single-window mode, these commands now raise:

Wrong type argument: window-live-p, nil

I wonder if this might be related to this change:

It looks like the mu4e--view-in-headers mechanism was removed and the mu4e-view-* wrappers were obsoleted (e.g. mu4e-view-headers-next → mu4e-headers-next). It seems possible that the mu4e-headers-* functions now assume the headers window is visible.

Any other single-window fans out there run into this? Or is there something I might be missing in my config? If this is a regression, I’d also appreciate any suggestions for workarounds.

Thanks for your time!

Best wishes,
Matt

Hi Matt,
There was some refactoring, and indeed this seems to have affected
single-window mode. I'll discuss this incident with our QA department.

While (I suspect?) single-window mode is the not the most common
configuration, we still support it!

I've pushed a fix for this.

Kind regards,
Dirk.

Dear Dirk,

Thank you for the super-swift fix - it’s working great again!

All the best,
Matt
