Hi,

A few days ago I used mu4e to reply to a HTML message. My text appeared in text mode, but underneath I saw that the original message was added in HTML form. In total, it looked somehow like this:

[my text - as plain text]

<Some HTML source code>

I sent the message without any error occuring. Unfortunately, the email program of the recipient showed only the - unchanged - HTML part. The text I wrote was swallowed. Is this something related to mu4e?
Greetings!

Moritz

Hi Moritz,
I don't think so. Mu4e basically uses the stock Emacs message-mode (or
rather, a derivation thereof). I'm just writing this reply after
viewing the HTML version of your mail and my reply still uses the text
part.

It might be that this is related to my setting

;; I prefer plain text parts over HTML/richtext
(setopt mm-discouraged-alternatives ' ("text/html" "text/richtext"))

but I think that only affects which part is displayed by default.

Can it be that the mail you replied to *only* had HTML content?
Usually, and highly recommended, an HTML mail contains a
multipart/alternative part which in turn contains a text/html and an
additional text/plain part. I guess if the mail doesn't contain a plain
text part, you might get what you had.

Bye,
Tassilo

Hi Tassilo,

that's correct - it is a multipart message, but there is no text part,
only the HTML and a few PNGs.
Thank you,

Moritz
