Hello fellows,

this is a bit OT here, sorry to bother.
I need to convert my mails (currently stored in a MAILDIR tree strucutre) to mbox format.
What is the simplest way ?

Thank you.

The first Google link I get:

https://gist.github.com/nyergler/1709069

And if that's not to your liking, there's a host of other links
you can check out.

On Debian (and other Linux distributions), there is “mb2md”.

My 0.02€,
C.

P.S. you should keep a backup of your mbox files before attempting the conversion.

This one does not exist on Slackware but the script is easy to find on the Internet.

Thank you for your help

I should have asked something more more emacs-ish :) (eventually even
better: a mu4e-centric solution).

Anyway that link is okay.

Thank you,

Since mu4e doesn't read mbox, the latter is unlikely. :-) But Gnus
can handle both mbox and maildir, so in theory you could set up
Gnus and then use it to copy the messages in your maildir folder
to a newly created mbox folder. (I've done this in the other
direction with mutt.) I suspect a non-Emacs solution will be
quicker and more convenient, though. :-)
