[MT-L] External Users

Good morning L-list,
We are constantly receiving requests from External provider practices for access into our Meditech Magic system. To prevent non-credentialed providers from viewing patients they have no need to view, we restrict access to patients associated to the provider and or provider group in the MIS user dictionary.

How are other Meditech facilities handling this type of request?

We used to do it that way as well, but for a lot of providers they were not on the patient record so they could not access the record.
We have them sign non-employee user forms that have the disclaimer that they are bound by confidentiality , etc... We also have corporate compliance who
monitors access. We created user locations in Meditech so we can tell where they are. Compliance reviews them and lets us know if they should or shouldn't have access.

Lynelle,

We have done that at every magic hospital I worked at. We used some tools
to securely and confidently notify the referring Physicians the tests were
completed along with the results, which made this a non-issue.
