This is just a question for any Meditech customers that are either up on Expanse or getting ready to go to it. We are going up with the Web Acute option for physicians which looks totally different from the old MT. They are also recommending that all other areas go up with WPL. This is a Web Presentation Layer. This means all other application like pharmacy, nursing, lab, etc will get access to their same applications and screens except in a web based platform and not having it installed on your desktop anymore.

My question is anyone using this or in the middle of testing it. We are testing it and having a lot of issues. Just does not respond and act like the desktop platform and it is very noticeable. I don't want to list out all the issues, I just wanted to see if anyone else is out there and wishes to discuss their experiences with it.

Hi Jason,

We are live with Expanse PP3 and most of our users use WEB (either Web AMB, Acute, ED or everything else via WPL). However, even with 26 Web servers, we do still have some screen navigation slowness with the NPR apps running in WPL (PHA, ITS, LAB, and all financials) and some users drop back to the MTAD.

Thanks - Sherry

I am fairly surprised by this, we are on Expanse (PP2) and require use of a browser for the web optimized applications (ED, Acute, AMB) and the desktop client for everything else. While it is possible to access and use some of the other applications via web browser, we won't be requiring anyone to if the application has not been optimized for the web. This was (and I think still is) Meditech's recommendation to us.

Hi Jason and Sherry,
We went LIVE with Expanse PP4 on Feb 1 and use WEB for almost everything (Web AMB, Acute, ED, and WPL for almost everything else).
I believe we have 11 web app servers running in LIVE. We also see occasional performance issues in WPL. One thing we discovered before we went LIVE was that the specs on the end point device can play a big role in the performance of the WEB and WPL.

I'd be happy to get together with a group of other users that are on or testing WPL to compare notes.

I've been following this thread and I'm curious as to the number of end users each site that has reports has.

This interests me as we are a smaller site with around 300 staff with our Meditech systems hosted. WPL wouldn't replace our VDI sessions completely but it would limit its need for use, if the number of needed web servers doesn't off set the cost benefit.

Thanks,

Scott

HI Jason,

Just a note to expand on Joel Sanford's response.

We are 6.16 since 12/01/18.

We stick to Mtads presently for non Web users. Although there may be some minor speed issues, there are also differences in utility. For example, PCS users refuse to use WPL because documention automatically presents as Compressed and they must Expand to see their interventions; quite a few extra clicks in the course of the day. There is presently no fix for this but Meditech is aware. I'm not aware of any other issues.
