Hello All,

CS site here. We recently received a batch of covid vaccine prefilled syringes with a GS1 barcode, however when we scan it into meditech it puts the Lot number into the barcode field and when nurses scan at the bedside it gives them an error "Unknown NDC". Our barcode order is setup as .EAN.128 then .GTIN and finally .ALL. We have to have .ALL because at the onset of barcoding we used the MM item number as the barcode to simplify things but that doesn't adhere to any industry formats.

So back to the issues at hand. When I scan the barcode into textpad I noticed segment 17 and 10 are reversed from what's expected.

Segment 01 14 digits

Segment 10 7 digits Lot#

Segment 17 6 digits exp date

The proper order is 01, 17, 10

Has anyone else experienced this issue? What did you do? For the interim we are relabeling the syringes.

Many Thanks,
Mark Svara
