Would anyone be willing to share what software/companies they are using for their Expanse pharmacy labels?
Our hospital is currently on Expanse 2.2.58 and we are currently contracted with the Taylor Corporation using DocPath to create custom 3x4 labels. Our printers are Epson TM-C3500 (which are no longer being produced). We currently are able to have PNG images and color on our labels.
Our current solution is great but is unfortunately being sunset by the end of 2026. So I would love to hear what other hospitals are using.
Thanks!

Thanks,

Hi Jon,

I've rolled out a color pharmacy label workflow for a number of sites. Some are still using the Epson 3500's but most have moved on or original implementation was done using the Epson 4000's. There are some nuances, but they print nice color labels from Expanse with no third party software necessary between meditech and the printer besides the standard epson driver the manufacturer provides.

Generally I aim to have sites own their hardware and directly source their labels from vendors of their choosing so I don't gatekeep anything or require subscription style services for the label printer solution. It offers more freedom to the sites to pivot as necessary, and they can alter the label reports with their own staff, or work with me to make future changes if they do not have the report writing resources already available to them.

Some sites want the freedom and flexibility, others are happier paying more for a more turn-key solution where even the hardware is maintained by the vendor. I usually work with facilities implementing the former to save on their ongoing costs.

Feel free to reach out to me directly if you'd like to chat more about your site's needs and goals for pharmacy labels.
