Google Translate in place for Ra-Du-Se

Thanks to Robert's advice, I succeeded in embedding an HTML code from Google to get automatic translation of my webpages instantly to other languages.

Though the Google Translations are still very crappy, they nonetheless help give an idea about an otherwise inaccessible domain entirely in Turkish.

I tried the code first on my Ra-Du-Se notation implementation page. The idea of "Ra-Du-Se" (differing from the Western Do-Re-Mi or C-D-E in crucial ways) was an idea that came into being upon the initiative of my colleague Kemal Karaosmanoğlu. I later on developed a unique notation to support it.

It also revolves about the subject of Ahenks and to have a notation that works the same way in agreement with maqam tradition regardless of key transposition.

Hi Ozan, first to confirm the code is working. But unfortunately the translation isn't very readable, as i have found with other translations of Turkish to English.

This is an issue with Google translate, it's not very good at translating Turkish to English. My guess is perhaps in Turkish there are many words with multiple meanings like the English "bank" (for edge of a waterway; or financial institution).

The page appears to be about mortar, curtains, pest, tuning girls, ... it's just too much of that sort of thing to guess what the original says.

I wondered if there is any way for a webmaster to give Google translate a glossary for a particular page or site to help improve the translation but they don't appear to have the feature. Someone suggested it here

Any visitor can "suggest a translation" but I think that doesn't make any immediate difference, as you'd expect otherwise any visitor could change the translation. 

But it's a shame that a verified webmaster (e.g. verified user of Google's Webmaster tools) can't provide a glossary or suggest a translation.

Yes, I realize English to Turkish auto-translate sucks with Google. The problem is that, my Turkish is additionally challenging, as I have invented ways to express myself elegantly using many composite wording/sentencing schemes that borrow terms & expressions from the older Ottoman lexicon, which is otherwise not mainstream with the quotidian Turkish dialect. No surprises that Google fails for Ra-Du-Se pages so horribly, especially when the subject is as technically on the fringe as the ones I undertake. The fact that Turkish is only Latin in alphabetic expression, and not grammer, surely makes matters worse.

It is absolutely essential that people with a mastery of their technical fields produce one-to-one charts for correct translation to another language. My attempt with printing out a glossary sheet to MELM translators was a novelty in that regard. Google should allow a webmaster to supply with an XML sort of file to help the machine auto-translate correctly thru adequate correlations of words within the context of sentences.

Synful Orchestra does the same sort of correlation thru reconstructive phrase modelling. It is known to work well.

This can be tied to the terminological difficulty we have been facing in the structure of ToneXML using Turkish language.

Okay all makes sense. Yes even when the words are okay you can tell it's having a lot of trouble with the grammar, which certainly doesn't help matters! 

How does English auto translate to Turkish btw. Are English pages auto translated generally understandable?

Yes totally agree Google should have a way for a webmaster to help with their translation of their website and say how words should be translated, even whole phrases.

It's such an obvious thing to do, and google translate has been around for a long while now. So, I wonder if there is some technical reason that makes it harder to program than you think - or some policy reason why they don't do it.
